Here’s our top reasons why we love Caribbean sailing:
Diverse Islands
It’s true! Every island in the Windward Antilles has it’s own personality and character: Grenada is a very friendly larger island; Carriacou and Bequia are bustling, yet traditional, islands; and Petite Martinique is a historic, fishing island. And the Tobago Cays… well, they just leave you speechless in their beauty!
Caribbean Cuisine
Healthy, homegrown produce and world famous spices complement the selection of fresh fish and meat that you can purchase. Tantalising meals (and very naughty deserts) are served up on board, and in the great selection of restaurants that we have throughout the islands. The great thing about sailing in Grenada and the Grenadines is that you can stop and try out the food whenever you like.
World Class Sailing
When Caribbean sailing, especially in Grenada and the Grenadines, there is a fantastic mix of flat-water sailing and full Atlantic swell between the island groups. This, combined with line of sight navigation, reversing currents, and a constant warm wind, make these islands a sailing heaven. Calm, comfortable anchorages abound, and the cooling tradewinds bring a refreshing breeze throughout the year.
Fabulous Biodiversity
The marine life we encounter on our charters, and the flora and fauna we see on land, is some of the best in the Caribbean. Swim with the endangered turtles at Tobago Cays Marine Park, or find huge iguanas while hiking! There is so much to discover down here – that’s why people keep coming back for more.
Tranquil Beaches
What can we say?! We’ve got it all! Secluded islands provide the perfect spot to hang your hammock for a spot of relaxing. Or if you fancy a good “lime” then head to one of the livelier beaches, such as Grand Anse on Grenada. White sand beaches are the quintessential, picture-perfect backdrop to the cool azure waters. Quite simply, the beaches are stunning, so come on over and go Caribbean sailing in Grenada and the Grenadines!
Tropical Weather
Grenada and the Grenadines is a year-round sailing destination. How lucky are we?! The sun always seems to be shining, and the warm temperatures are a welcome respite from colder climes abroad. Grenada is classed as outside the hurricane belt, and where sailors come to anchor during the stormier months up north. Fresh trade winds bring cooler weather from November through to April. If it does rain, then it doesn’t last for long… and you will be dry again in minutes!
Exciting Activities
These islands offer so many activities alongside sailing. It is worth allocating time to explore some of them on your charter. Snorkeling, scuba diving, hiking, cultural events, and sightseeing tours are just a few of the fascinating things you can do on a Caribbean sailing charter in Grenada and the Grenadines.
Welcoming Locals
The people who live on these islands are some of the friendliest people in the Caribbean. Being greeted with “Good Morning!” or “Good Afternoon!” by everyone you meet is completely normal. You will feel very welcome here. Take time to hang out and lime with the locals, and you will have a really great experience. The atmosphere on the islands is laid back, and you will soon get into the groove of “island time”.
Award Winning Rum
Grenada has many rum distilleries, and the surrounding islands are also good producers. Try out and few and find your favourite – everyone has their own secret rum punch recipe!
