Who can join our fun Mile Building Cruises?
Anyone! Grenada Bluewater Sailing’s mile building cruises are perfect if would like to increase your sea time for a future sailing qualification, such as the RYA Yachtmaster Certificate of Competence. If you want to join us for RYA training then that is great too – we offer the complete selection of courses from the RYA Sail Cruising Scheme.
Alternatively, if you just want to relax and enjoy the sail through the wonderful Windward Antilles you are very welcome as well. Just let us know your objectives and we can tailor the cruise to suit you!
Where do you visit on Mile Building Cruises?
We offer a variety of mile building cruises throughout the year. We often depart from Grenada and head up the chain of islands to Martinique and back. During April, we offer mile building cruises on the journey to and from the regattas in Bequia and Antigua. You can book these in conjunction with each regatta or separately. Check out our online schedule for detailed information and costs on each.
On the Grenada to Martinique return mile building cruises, we try to visit as many islands as time allows. Departing from Grenada, the skipper will choose the islands based on sea conditions, tides and wind – and of course where you would like to go!
The following islands are popular stops: Carriacou, Petit Martinique/PSV, Union Island, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, Bequia, St.Lucia and finally Martinique. You can visit some of them on the way up and others on the way down! Each leg can be booked separately as a 7 day trip or simply join us for the whole 14 day cruise.
What activities are there on Mile Building Cruises?
When sailing through these stunning islands you need to take time to explore them too! The islands have a good selection of hiking, walks, snorkelling, land tours and scuba diving. Your experienced Skipper will know all of the best spots to take advantage of these activities. Always dreamed of swimming with endangered turtles and stingrays? Done!
Each island really does have its own character and unique atmosphere to enjoy. Soak up the colourful culture in one of the many beach bars and restaurants, or head out on a guided tour or hike to discover the Caribbean’s natural wonders. Quaint, traditional fishing communities make for a lovely stop over, in between visiting the larger and busier islands.
