These specialist one day short courses expand your knowledge and skills in key boating areas.
What are RYA Short Courses?
The RYA short courses are stand alone courses that complement the standard practical and theoretical training. They are focused on building specialised knowledge in specific areas such as radar use, first aid at sea, or diesel engines. Find out more about the individual specialist short courses here.
Why should I take the RYA Short Courses?
Do you know how to solve simple engine issues? Can you work your radar? How do you treat an injured crew member? Can you legally use a VHF marine radio? All of these skills make boating safer for you and your crew members. The RYA short courses teach critical boating skills that will assist you when out on the water.
Some of the RYA short courses are prerequisites for higher sailing qualifications. For example, the RYA VHF (SRC) Marine Radio course and First Aid course is required before you enter for the RYA Yachtmaster examinations.
